He convinced Casper Rudd against Italy’s Lorenzo Soningo in the ATP Tour in San Diego, and now the Norwegian tennis star is ready for the semi-finals.
The Norwegian won the first set 6-1 in the ATP 250 Championship on Friday local time.
In the second set, the Italian offered more resistance. At 5-4, the Norwegian had two balls. Sonengo held on in the first, but in the second he hit a ball that barely hit the outside.
Thus, he was set to win 6-4, and Rudd was on. The match lasted less than an hour and a half.
I managed to recover
In the end it was all the same. Serving 4-3 was a tough match, and he earned some break points. I was lucky and got a good server. It was nice to bring myself that way,” Rudd said when interviewed in front of the audience after the match.
He noted that he made almost no superficial errors in this match.
– So it was a very good match, said the Norwegian.
Meet the Russians or the Bulgarians
Lorenzo Suningo came in at number 23 in the world, while Rudd is at number 10.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, Rudd will face either Aslan Karatsev of Russia or Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria. Ranked as number 24 and 29 respectively, the two went to the field in San Diego after the Norwegian received public honors.
