The municipality of Oslo has received reports of fraudulent SMS messages.


On the Oslo municipality website, they are now warning against sending fake vaccines text messages.

– We have received reports that many residents have received an SMS about the third dose of the vaccine where the municipality of Oslo is the sender in the text field. You are asked to respond with your Social Security number and name – not in response to the letter, the Oslo municipality wrote.

They further write that they did not send this SMS and that this is a fraud attempt.

Caroline Bremmer, Oslo municipality’s Corona Communications Team Leader, told Nettavisen that they became aware of the problem on Monday morning.

– We have now reported in various digital surfaces. We learned of the fake messages from several quarters. Bremer says residents have contacted us, among other things, via the Corona phone.

It says that messages related to the vaccine, change of appointment and recall for the vaccination appointment are sent via SMS from the district and via the health book.

– Then the relevant region is listed as the sender. The team leader says that the Oslo municipality does not send such SMS.
