Last week, news broke that a judge would reconsider the actor's fate.

This happened after Alec Baldwin (66 years old) filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him. His lawyers say they believe the jury that was supposed to consider whether Baldwin should stand trial was not presented with sufficient evidence in the case, NBC wrote.

From overnight to Saturday Norwegian time, Reuters news agency reported that the judge decided the following: Baldwin's indictment for negligent homicide remains in place.

This means that there will be a trial as planned. It will start in July.

Alec Baldwin faces up to a year and a half in prison.

While filming “Rust” in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October 2021, Baldwin fired a gun that turned out to be filled with real bullets, not live rounds.

The bullet killed 42-year-old cinematographer Halina Hutchins.

Baldwin himself said that the weapon went off by accident and that he did not pull the trigger. A previous FBI investigation concluded that this was not possible.

Last year, Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez Reid, who was in charge of the weapon during filming, were charged with negligent homicide, but the case against Baldwin was dropped.

But the Public Prosecutor made it clear that the investigation is not finished yet.

In January this year, the American actor was again charged with negligent homicide after the accident that occurred in the film in New Mexico.

Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the film's gunman, pleaded not guilty when her trial began last April, but was convicted of negligent homicide and tampering with evidence in the case.
