Avril Lavigne: – Go to the tour bus

Most people remember Avril Lavigne (37) Like the bad girl with pink hair and thick eyeliner. She is behind many successful works of the 21st century, including “Girlfriend” and “Sk8er Boi”.

It’s been 20 years since the debut album “Let Go!” He came out, and on that occasion Lavigne gave a great interview with Watchman Where she opens up, among other things, on the beginning of her career.

– I can not believe that

When the pop star debuted, she was no more than 17 years old. And so, she went straight from the girls’ room in the house with her mother and mother and went out on tour.

– I got out of my parents’ house and went straight to the tour bus, without having any rules. I just thought “I can now drink beer and eat pizza every day” and can just hang out with my band and travel the world. It was crazy, but very special at the same time, she says in the interview.

The themes in Lavigne’s songs were heavily influenced by her private life, which at the time mostly meant wearing “fat skate shoes” and looking at handsome skaters, she says.

I wrote this album right after high school, and now I can hear those words of mine talking about my small town and boys’ obsession with skateboarding. On “My World” (another album, journal.anm.), for example, I literally sing about the fact that I was fired from the “fried chicken” jerk I was working on in the “fried chicken” series. It’s funny. I look at those words and I can’t believe I sang them in a song.

Even today, she lives the experience of meeting younger generations with artists who discover her songs – something she describes as surreal.

Many of the musicians she works with now are also longtime fans. At the same time, she takes this opportunity to pay tribute to other young female artists in whom she is introduced to.

It appeared after five years

– Those younger generations are figuring out my stuff and Billy, Olivia, and Willow (Eilish, Rodrigo and Smith, .anm magazine) getting out into the world and doing their own thing, as I did 20 years ago, is so inspiring.

Lavigne has many exciting things on the agenda in the future, including the hit song “Sk8er Boi” – to be filmed. When it will come out is not known yet.
