This is what BankAxept wrote in a press release.

Until now, Apple Pay payments in Norway have been made with cards from foreign companies. The solution is now being prepared to be able to use BankAxept.

– We are very pleased that BankAxept Norway’s national card system will be available with Apple Pay. This means we’re on our way to more affordable payments for commerce, whether customers pay with a plastic card or with their Apple Digital Wallet, says Jes Rasmussen, Head of Digital Payments at BankID BankAxept.

The press release states that all consumers with a bank that has facilitated the use of BankAxept cards in Apple Pay will have BankAxept as their pre-selected payment source for in-store purchases. When BankAxept launches in Apple Pay, payments with Apple Pay will work everywhere.

BankAxept provides technology and digital card operation for other national card solutions, including in Italy and Denmark.

Rasmussen says it is crucial to be available in digital channels as more people prefer to pay with digital wallets on their mobile phones and watch.

BankAxept aims to become a source of payment in local and international wallets, and in the long term also in online payments.

“Banking with BankAxept digital is an absolutely necessary development if we are to continue to offer affordable payments in new contracts,” says Jes Rasmussen.
