The world-famous country star appears to have died, as seen on his social media. He must have been ill with cancer for some time.
A post on his Instagram profile says:
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully on the night of February 5 surrounded by his family. He fought his battle bravely. Please respect his family's privacy at this time.”
Keith is one of America's biggest country artists of the last 30 years. He came up with the single “Should've Been a Cowboy” in 1993.
Maybe they discovered this
It achieved great commercial success in the early and mid-2000s, also in Norway. Songs like “I Love This Bar,” “As Good as Ince Was” and a number of compilation albums have charted in this country.
The Qatari legend revealed in the summer of 2022 that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021.
In front of Dagbladet, artist and P10 Country presenter Jenny Jensen described the death as very sad.
– It seemed like things went well and he was ready to return to the stage, but perhaps he was sicker than anyone thought. It's just sad. Cancer is a brutal disease.
Jensen had never met Keith in person, but he still left an impression.
-I'm just thinking “what an artist.” He had the whole package. Not only did he sing well, he had built his own brand, and I had a desire to try him live, he was absolutely raw. Definitely one of the biggest.
Now she hopes his music lives on.
– It's a great sound that has come out. He was an artist who really made it happen and a great role model for me. It's a legend that's now dead.
Many fans of the late singer left their condolences and messages of grief on the Instagram post.
“We love you Toby. Burn my heart. Your music will live forever legend,” one follower wrote.
“God bless you and your family. It's hard to imagine America without Toby Keith,” another wrote.
– Suddenly I started crying
A third person writes that his heart is broken.
Keith is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucas, as well as their three children, Shelley, Crystal and Stellen. He also has four grandchildren.
The singer was 62 years old.
