Denies bitterness: - People died. That would be pathetic

See Denmark – Austria tonight at 20.30 on TV 2 Sport Premium

Denmark has done well in the Nations League, leading Group 1 in level A with six points after three matches.

There have been some good years in football for Denmark – many with Aggie Hared as manager. At the World Cup four years ago, Denmark was on the verge of reaching the quarter-finals, but lost to finalist Croatia on penalties.

Then the Danes qualified for the European Championship. The contract expired after the tournament in 2020, but when the European Championship was moved to 2021, Hared was not allowed to lead Denmark anyway. Under the leadership of Kasper Hjolmand’s successor, the European Championships were a huge success reaching the semi-finals.

Hared enjoyed the Danish recovery after he was forced to resign as national team manager.

– It was great for me too, because I’ve been the cornerstone of this team for four years.

Hared ended his coaching career in December when he resigned as coach of Rosenborg. Now he is retired and has spent some of his time coaching youth teams.

– It was pathetic

He does not feel any bitterness because he was not allowed to lead Denmark in the tournament for which he qualified.

The epidemic has affected many. People lost their jobs, people got sick and people died. Then I can’t sit back and say it’s very unfortunate that I didn’t get a European Championship. It was pathetic. I must have enjoyed those who played in the park, because we knew it was going to be a great experience.

In March, he returned to Danes Barkin’s home in Copenhagen and met his former students.

– It was nice to see them again in the park. Very pleasant.

Hareide and Eriksen praised in the park

– The special boy who means a lot to me

Just before the international match against Serbia, Hared handed out an award to Christian Eriksen. The 30-year-old then returned after suffering cardiac arrest at the same location in June 2021.

Åge Hareide was delighted to see Christian Eriksen back again for Denmark and into the Premier League with Brentford.

– It’s wonderful. He is a special boy who means a lot to me and the team. It’s nice that he got over it. Hared says I was more worried about Christian Eriksen than he wouldn’t let me join.

The two had a close and intimate relationship while Heyd was the manager of the Denmark national team between 2015 and 2020. Hareide told TV 2 right after the cardiac arrest in Denmark’s opening match against Finland It was difficult to experience it.

Not the physical part, but the mental part that I think is worse when he knows what he’s been through. He says it may also have been a tough time for the family.

It was Eriksen who went into cardiac arrest which came as a shock to Harid.

Christian was healthy all the way, and he was the one who ran the longest in all of our fights. No symptoms, nothing, and then it just happened. It can happen to all of us. It encourages the need to be careful and check ourselves.
