Marcus Roth also set a new personal record of 48.03, just behind his father's family record. He finished fifth in his heat.

– Damn it, I didn't bring the press to my father now either, Roth told NRK.

Roth ran a time of 48.03. Father Espen Roth's record is 47.95.

“I was really elated because I thought he took it,” dad Espen Roth told NRK from the stands in Rome.

Sander Skotheim ran to second place in the 400 meters in his heat, setting a new personal best of 47.50.

25 points separate Skotheim from runner-up Johannes Erem from Estonia so far. Frenchman Makinson Gleti is third, while Marcus Roth is fourth so far.

– It's cold. But the overall workout is ten exercises, not five. The three most dangerous training exercises are tomorrow. There are hurdles, discus throw and pole vault. “So I have to get through it, and then it will be fine,” Skotheim tells NRK.

On Tuesday, the girls will compete in the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole throw, javelin throw, and 1,500-meter dash. The medal decision will be made around 10:45 p.m.

– anything could happen

Henriette Jæger ran to victory in her 200m semi-final heat at the European Athletics Championships and is ready for the final.

– This was great fun. I'm doing well and progressing. I was nervous,” Geiger told NRK.

– I have never participated in an EC final before, and in a final anything can happen.

She had the fourth fastest time in the semifinals with a time of 22.71. Briton Daryl Nita ran the fastest with a time of 22.51 seconds.

Favorite exercise selected

Henriette Jæger has opted out of her “favorite workout” for the 400m and will instead focus on the 200m in the European Group.

– It was relatively difficult. I was determined to run 400m here, so it was a switch from 400m to 200m. Firstly, there is good speed training towards 400 metres, then I see that maybe there is a chance (to get a good position, journ.anm).) A little more there, Geiger told Dagbladet and continued:

– I think the 200m is a very fun workout to compete in during championships, and I wanted to try something new.

The final match will be held on Tuesday evening.

– Too bad for him

Earlier today, Narvi Gilgi Nordas surprisingly withdrew before the 1,500m final at the European Athletics Championships in Rome. At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year, he won a bronze medal.

– He won the bronze medal in the World Championships. Then this should be a formality. I'm a little shocked by the version we saw today, says commentator Jan Post on NRK on Monday evening.

-I feel sorry for him. This is not true at all in the arena. “Neither at an altitude of 5,000 nor 1,500 meters,” adds expert Vibjörn Rodal.
