– frustrated with the Bergen City Council

Strictly speaking: Ahead of the weekend, Bergen City Council rejected Hordfast in its advisory response to the National Transportation Plan.

They will give priority from Bybanen to Åsane (with the new Fløyfjelltunnel), E16 Arna-Stanghelle and Ringveg further east.

– The city council fails in western Norway!

Hordfast AS general manager Oyvind Hallriker is amazed and thinks the city council here is failing the whole of western Norway.

– Building Stavanger and Bergen together while reducing travel time from 5 to 2 hours is about strengthening the Westland region – the only region in Norway that, with better mobility, can become a competitor for the Oslo region’s desire for work and business, says Hallricker.

But HalliRacker isn’t worried.

– Fortunately, it is not the weak workers’ city council today in Bergen that decides whether to build a Hordfast, he says.

Hordfast has been mentioned as the best project in Norway by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

– We have the good faith that other powers in Western Norway will demand the realization of the project and that the Norwegian government and parliament will support it, he concludes.

The reaction of business associations, companies and other leaders in the regions was not long in coming. There are many who have had strong reactions to the Bergen City Council’s actions today.

Earlier this year, the government assured Radio Haugaland that the Hordfast project was fixed and that there was no room for rematch in the project.
