Many optimistic participants would probably spend months preparing for the major Miss America contest, Miss USA.
During this year’s competition, it was Miss Texas, R’Bonney Gabriel (28), who ended up winning.
Participant from Montana, Heather Lee O’Keefe (25), reacts strongly to that.
to me daily Mail The 25-year-old claims that the organizers planned for Gabriel to win, before the women entered the competition.
– obvious favoritism
“I feel like we’ve all been used as puppets for the show in competition,” says O’Keefe.
According to a Montana woman, the Miss USA board had already seen the challenger from Texas as the winner.
The only thing I know is that there is a clear favouritism for her in the competition and before her. She received much more resources than we did. This is the root of the problem.
The 25-year-old remains a fan of Gabriel, and thinks it’s a shame that circumstances could affect the win.
– She also worked hard for this, but I think it is a pity that circumstances ruined her victory, because we all agree that she could have had a win on her own, she continues.
Miss USA and Gabriel denied that the contest was fraudulent. The president of Miss USA and former Miss Texas, Kristel Stewart, 41, also denied all the accusations.
She won the beauty pageant in 2009.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Stewart said the accusations against the Miss USA organization are misleading and contradict everything I do, both personally and professionally.
According to the website, Miss Universe, who also runs Miss USA, is conducting an internal investigation into the contestants’ allegations.
We are aware of the concerns raised by this year’s Miss USA pageant. We commend women for bringing these issues to our attention and we will always be an organization that encourages women to use their voices. “We are convinced that everyone has the right to express their thoughts and experiences without retaliation or bullying,” Miss Universe told the Daily Mail.
