If I update, this will stop working

On May 18, Apple released iOS 16.5 with nearly 40 security bug fixes for iPhone and iPad.

Did you update? This is new

This is also new in the update and is the last update 0.1 before 16.6 and then iOS 17 (which we already know is getting a number of useful improvements) in the first developer beta on June 5:

  • The Sports tab in Apple News
  • Record a screen video with Siri
  • New Pride wallpaper and lock screen
  • Fixes a bug where Spotlight stopped responding
  • Fixes an error where content in podcasts might not load in CarPlay
  • Fixes a bug that could cause Screen Time settings to restart or not sync across devices

And lose that opportunity until Apple corrects the errors

The update problem is something more serious than a simple software bug, because after the update the “Lightning to USB 3 Adapter for Camera” no longer works. More specifically, the problem is that power is not being sent through the Lightning port to the iPhone and iPad. The user then receives an error message that the adapter requires too much power.

With the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, it’s easy to transfer high-resolution photos and videos from your digital camera to your iPad Pro. When you connect the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, your iPad Pro automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose the photos and videos you want Import them, then organize them into albums,” Apple writes of the product, which costs NOK 479.

We expect iOS 16.5.1 update by Thursday next week.
