Kuo is reasonably sure that iPhone 14 models will get autofocus on the front, finally. It’s strange that even Pro models haven’t had this for a long time, but this is the year it will.
In addition to improving the main AF, the aperture changes from the current ƒ / 2.2 to ƒ / 1.9. This improvement is significant, as Kuo explains, the effect of depth is improved. Auto focus in the foreground will also improve the “focus effect in FaceTime / video calls and video streaming.”
Other possible camera improvements include a periscope zoom, better night shots and a sky/star mode.
2024 is the year when the iPhone will be brand new
Now that we know the front design of the iPhone 14 Pro series with a pill design, Kuo believes that a really big evolution in iPhone design will come in 2024 with the iPhone 16.
Kuo believes the front camera and FaceID are hidden under the panel. It will take some time because Apple has to make sure that the light shines through the panel to be able to take good pictures with the front camera.
