Millions worth were stolen - thieves used wheelbarrows to empty the villa

It was Tuesday when Bergen artist Anine Berkland came home to her venerable villa in Hope in Bergen and saw that a window had been pulled out and the house had been flipped.

It’s the first time in many years that the house has been empty in a few days, says Birkeland.

The villa shows that the thieves searched room by room in search of valuables.

– Two of the wheelbarrows that were with us are also gone. It may have been used to get our stuff, sir Anin Berkland.

I think the million values are gone

She estimates, among other things, the disappearance of jewelry, designer clothes and professional photographic equipment worth at least one million kroner.

The worst thing is all the special things we’ve accumulated over a long life as artists. She says it is not easy to set a price for her.

The police in Bergen took the case very seriously. When they were notified of the intrusion, they immediately left with more patrols.

– We take burglaries very seriously. I think everyone who has had strangers in their home in this way considers it a violation of integrity, says the head of the Bergen police station, Lars Morten Lot.

He says that in recent years, police have seen crime rates drop for profit, especially in recent years.

One reason is likely to be the epidemic, says Luthi.

This view is shared by Finans Norge, which records all damages covered by insurance.

During the pandemic, the numbers of theft and theft dropped sharply. This is partly because the borders are closed and because we have been at home much more and thus took care of our home, says Finans Norge Communications Director, Sine Neverdal.

Now that society has opened up again, she believes there is a danger that this type of crime will come back again.

Fear of more robberies

– We are afraid of more intrusions into homes and homes. The first quarter is showing a slight increase, but since we’re recording late claims, it’s going to take a while to say anything for sure, says Neverdale.

Ask people to take precautions when traveling on vacation.

Make an alliance with the neighbor who can take care of him a little and make him look like someone is at home, says Stine Neverdal of Finans Norge.

Police in Bergen are now requesting information from the public in this case.

I hope we get as much back as possible. There are christening gifts, jewelry, excursion equipment, and photographic equipment. We need a lot of that in our daily work as artists, says Anin Birkland.
