Maxus got out early on the big wave of Chinese car brands that have come to Norway in the past two years.
First it was about Van. But now they are also stepping up their focus on passenger cars.
Maxus just showed off the new MIFA 9 at the Guanqzhou Auto Show 2021 at home in China. This will also be one of the largest electric cars you can buy. The MIFA 9 is an SUV from a truly rosy lineup.
The vehicle is 5 and 37 meters long and 2 meters wide. It comes with different interior solutions, six or seven seats. All seats are equipped with electronic adjustment and can be ventilated and heated. The seats will also have a massage function.
The design is distinctive, large windows should provide a bright and pleasant interior.
SUV and MPV
Maxus himself says the goal was to create a “high-tech, luxurious atmosphere similar to a spaceship”.
Inside there is a high screen factor.
The car is full of technology and entertainment equipment. By integrating multiple screens around the vehicle, the goal is to create an interactive experience.
The design is, to put it mildly, distinctive, and a bit of a mix of an SUV and an MPV. Exactly that recipe we’ve seen from many different car brands.
SUVs have lost a lot of sales in recent years and are considered by many to be less attractive than SUVs. Attempts are being made to remedy that by giving them a bit of the four-wheel drive factor.
A new car brand is approaching – this could be important in Norway
The car is delivered with six or seven seats, and there is still usable luggage space with all of these seats in use.
Range 520 km
The battery pack is 90 kW. It gives an estimated range of 520 kilometers, measured according to the WLTP standard. Regarding the size of the car, it should be said that it is an approved number.
The Maxus here has a relatively modest 245 horsepower. It is planted to the ground via the front wheels, and it is not known if Maxus is also planning a 4×4 version. The amount of power it can receive for fast charging has also not been communicated yet.
This one stands out among all electric cars
Maxus has big ambitions and several new electric vehicles are in the pipeline. MIFA 9 will be launched for the first time at home in China, in May next year.
Ten new electric cars underway
In China, prices start at about 380,000 kroner and end at just over 500,000, -, if Maxus can get close to this in Norway, they should have opportunities to hijack a good number of customers. The car is for sale in the Chinese market via e-mail next year, and the MIFA 9 is expected to arrive in Norway in the last quarter of 2022.
By the way, this is not the only news from Maxus. They have ten new electric models underway over the next three years. The goal is to become one of the leading players in the production of electric vehicles.
