Philip Calvin McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil, traveled to Israel and interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In the interview, which was broadcast on the US television program “Dr. Phil Primetime” on Friday night, the two spoke about the long-announced invasion of Rafah and the relationship with the United States.

As for the United States, the largest arms supplier and Israel's closest ally, it has moved from providing full support to expressing its concern for civilians and threatening to halt arms shipments.

-I hope we can overcome our differences now. “But we will do what we must to protect our country and our future,” Netanyahu said.

On Thursday, President Biden gave a speech in which he threatened to withdraw part of the support for Israel in the war against Hamas. The United States is Israel's closest ally and largest arms supplier.

He pleaded guilty on October 7

Dr. Phil's motivation for doing the interview was to focus on the terrorist attack that occurred on October 7, 2023, as he himself said.

Netanyahu admitted that the government made several mistakes that day.

– Several errors that occurred that day were revealed. First and foremost by the government. People were not protected.

The then IDF intelligence chief, Aharon Haleva, resigned from his position earlier this spring. He said that the unit “did not live up to the level of trust given to it” to protect the Israelis.

– How do they differentiate between Hamas and civilians?

The Biden administration said it could not support a large-scale invasion of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip without a credible plan to protect civilians.

– How do they differentiate between Hamas and Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip? Dr. Phil asked Netanyahu, noting that many claim that part of Hamas' tactics is to stay close to civilians.

Netanyahu did not answer the question directly, but he said that this tactic makes the task more difficult for the Israeli defense.

NRK's Middle East correspondent, Yama Wasmal, asked the same question when she interviewed David Mincer, an Israeli government spokesman.

Menser replied: – We followed the gold standard when we targeted the war against terrorists, and kept civilians away from dangerous areas.

– The European Union says it is using famine as a weapon against 2.2 million people in the Gaza Strip. This doesn't sound like a gold standard, Wlasmal said.

Netanyahu's government has long remained silent regarding Washington's abstention from delivering air bombs to Israel last week. But Biden came out publicly this week and said that this was part of a warning against entering Rafah.

– Civilians killed in Gaza due to bombs. It's just a mistake, he said in an interview CNN.

He threatened to stop many US arms shipments to Israel if the army entered Rafah with ground forces.

– You cannot support Israel's right to defend itself, and then oppose it when Israel defends itself, this is what Netanyahu commented on that in the interview with Dr. Phil.

-He will only fight with Nevin

The tone between Israel and the United States has calmed, and on Thursday a number of Israeli government ministers came out with their reactions to Biden's threats.

Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir was among those who approached X to comment on the letter.

Netanyahu told Dr. Phil that Israel is trying to stand alone in the war. He showed no concern about what a potential halt in arms deliveries might mean for the outcome of the war.

-You said that we would only fight with the Nevans if we had to. “But I assure you, we have more than just our souls,” he said.
