Save the children from the house of horrors

On the night of Thursday, March 16, Horry County police officers responded to a residence outside the coastal city of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after receiving disturbing reports.

According to a police report obtained by local television station WPDE-TV, police made a shocking discovery on the front porch of the house.

Covered in rubbish and mud

There, lying on a chair, was a naked old woman. It soon became clear that the woman had died.

Then the police got involved.

While searching the house, the police found children living in appalling conditions:

The hallway to the children’s room was covered in so much rubbish and feces that you couldn’t see the floor. The entrance to the bathroom was so buried behind junk and dirt that it was impossible to get to.

Bugs were crawling all over the kitchen, and in front of the refrigerator was a huge pile of animal cages and garbage.

According to the police report, the house must have been infested with cockroaches. A total of 16 dead animals were found lying and rotting around the house.

The woman who owned the house and had children in her custody was immediately arrested. According to WPDE-TV, she will be charged with, among other things, illegal actions against children and animal cruelty.

The death of the elderly woman is under investigation. Her identity and relationship with the arrested woman has not been revealed yet.
