Recently, a Polish woman falsely claimed to be Madeleine McCann. German authorities have long claimed they were certain German citizen Christian Bruckner had something to do with the disappearance, but so far no charges have been brought against him.

On the 16th birthday, the parents shared a poem on FindMadeleine.com titled “contradiction” – “contradiction”.

They also wrote that the daughter is still “greatly missed.”

The parents did not lose hope of ever finding their daughter again. On May 12, 2021, she would have turned 18, and on that occasion the family shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook, Dagbladet mentioned earlier:
“Every May is tough – a reminder of years gone by, years of being lost or stolen together. This year is particularly poignant as we have to celebrate Madeleine’s 18th birthday. Enough said. The Covid pandemic has made this year more difficult for many reasons, but fortunately it has moved on. The investigation is to find Madeleine and her kidnapper. We live in hope, however small, that we will see Madeleine.”
