April Jones was walking past some platforms inside a Walmart in South Carolina, USA in 2015, when she suddenly developed severe pain in her foot.

Jones had stepped on a rusty nail, which caused a hole in the shoe and in her foot, according to a lawsuit she filed in 2017, he writes. Washington Post.

She went to the hospital to have the wound treated, and was told she had an infection in her foot, the suit said.

It is not known what type of infection Jones got from the rusty nail, but she was told that her foot would have to be amputated.

three amputations

After three separate amputations, Jones lost most of his right leg. She has been in a wheelchair for six years and, according to her lawyer, “completely changed her everyday life.”

Jones sued Walmart, and a Florence County, South Carolina jury ruled last month that Walmart should pay $10 million in damages for it. This corresponds to 90 million Norwegian kroner. The amount will go to cover past and future medical bills.

Walmart anchor

Randy Hargrove, a Walmart spokesperson, told The Washington Post that the company has already appealed the decision.

“Walmart is working hard to ensure that all customers have a safe shopping experience in our stores,” Hargrove said.

We appreciate the jury’s work, but we do not believe that the verdict is corroborated as a result of the evidence, or that Mrs. Jones’ injury resulted from what was alleged in her complaint.
