The year of the iPhone can be boring

Apple chose to drop faster RAM in the iPhone 15 Pro. Instead, the plan is to put it in the 2024 models.

Super RAM for the first time on iPhone in 2024

The move to LPDDR5X RAM will take another year and is now the situation according to the Apple “ShrimpApplePro” leak.

In other words, the iPhone 15 Pro, and possibly the Ultra model if it comes this year (we highly doubt that), will still come with LPDDR5. With the upgraded “x-memory” introduced in the summer of 2021 (the specs, if nothing else), the bandwidth is increased to 8533Mb/s from 6400Mb/s using LPDDR5.

Samsung was the first with the new standard with units already in the winter of 2021.

Then there’s something to gain with N3B, too

The A17 chip will also be an N3B process, and it will not be until the A18 in 2024 that TSMC’s improved 3nm process improves performance and greatly reduces power consumption.

There are still improvements to be found: 10 to 15 percent better performance and 25 to 30 percent lower power consumption. However, these numbers have nothing to do with the iPhone 15 — not yet.

It has not been confirmed or denied whether the iPhone 15 Pro will get 8GB of RAM, which is 2GB more than today.

boring year?

In any case, there’s a good chance that this year’s, as last year introduced a new FaceID and an always-on panel — don’t expect big “outside” changes this year, however, there is a slight possibility of an updated design.

The potential positive is that the Series 14 gets 120Hz and a few other improvements that are reserved for the Pro Series. Apple sees the Pro series selling better and probably wants to fight more effectively in the mid-range market, if the NOK 11,000 cell phones can be described as such.
