On April 16, Indiana State Police launched a murder investigation after a mushroom picker found a suitcase in the woods.
Inside the bag lay a dead child.
About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, while picking mushrooms, a local resident found the body of an African-American boy near a road in the woods, east of Washington County, Indiana. Residents immediately called 911, He wrote to the police the day after the discovery.
They describe the boy as being between five and eight years old and 122 centimeters tall. He is short-haired and has a slender build.
Published the cause of death
On Saturday 28 May, more than a month after the body was found, the police announced the cause of death.
The boy is said to have gastroenteritis – a severe inflammatory condition of the digestive system that leads to vomiting and diarrhoea. This in turn led to dehydration, which was cited as the cause of death.
The body should not show signs of external damage.
The investigators have no evidence to believe that the child was alive when it was placed in the bag. The child was clean and dressed. Although the autopsy report indicates that the boy’s age is unknown, investigators believe he was about five years old when he died. Police writes.

They report the huge demand from the public, but write that there is no information that brings them closer to a solution.
– We do not rule out the possibility that the child is from another country or from another country.
The bag that the boy found is colorful and has a Las Vegas design on the front and back.
Police are posting the photo in the hope of contacting people who may know who the dead boy is.
