Are you a frequent user of the WhatsApp instant messaging service, but have an old smartphone? Then you may have to upgrade.
From December 31st WhatsApp will no longer work on less than 50 smartphonesincluding two iPhone models.
Cut off support
To be able to use WhatsApp on mobile in the future, you depend on having a smartphone with the following operating systems:
- Android 4.1 or later
- iPhone with iOS 12 or later
The change means that people with an iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c can no longer use WhatsApp on their devices. In fact, it has not been possible to install the app on these two models since last fall when WhatsApp cut off support for iOS 10 and iOS 11.
