Noah Schnapp (17) plays Will in the Netflix hit “Stranger Things.” After much speculation about Will, Schnapp confirms that the character is gay and in love with his friend Mike.

Schnapp is the person closest to the character of his era in the “Stranger Things” gang. He was only ten years old when he got the role of Will Byers in the summer of 2015.

It’s very clear this season that Will has feelings for Mike. They’ve deliberately pulled it off over the past few seasons. In Season 4, for me, it was just about playing a character who loves her best friend, but struggles with whether or not he wants to be accepted, who feels “wrong” and who doesn’t.
There is one scene in particular where Will and Mike are sitting in the back of a truck and talking about feelings. Viewers see he’s talking about himself, while Mike realizes he’s talking about Eleven.
– I remember that when we recorded this scene, I cried, and we stayed all day. When we saw her on screen, she was even more secretive.
– That day there was a lot of fun. I loved playing with Will. This scene was very important to him, because it really reinforced the truth: He loves his best friend, and doesn’t know how to tell him, Schnapp tells Variety.
The scene also became a meme on social media.
