English Premier League: Liverpool crush Brighton

(Brighton – Liverpool 3-0) The slump continues for Liverpool. Solly March and Brighton played at the Amex Stadium and overtook the Reds in the table.

– I don’t remember us playing a worse game than this, Jürgen Klopp’s score was clearly impressed in an interview that appeared on Vieplay after the match.

After 18 games, Liverpool were trapped in no man’s land, in eighth place in the table. If the Reds do not manage to climb further into the season, they will match Liverpool’s worst Premier League finish.

Toothless Liverpool had little to offer against neighbors Brighton and with ten minutes to go, former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck made the humiliation complete by scoring 3-0.

Kauro Mitoma spent the entire first half wreaking havoc on Liverpool’s right, and just after the break the Japanese caused new problems when he found Solly March in front of goal. The 28-year-old had an easy job of making it 1-0 for the home team. And Brighton’s right winger was far from done:

Just five minutes later, March cut in from a corner and slammed the ball into Alisson’s far corner of the Liverpool goal:

Jurgen Klopp threw whatever attacking power he could muster off the bench, but a hard-working Brighton side denied Liverpool big chances.

It was clear that Brighton had the best in the first half, and time after time the Japanese Mituma rode a merry ride with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Just before the break, home fans thought Ivan Ferguson had been awarded a penalty for “The Seagulles” when he went into the ground alone with goalkeeper Alisson, but the VAR concluded the 18-year-old was offside.

After 18 matches played, Liverpool ranks eighth in the English Premier League, with 28 points, and the difference from fourth place is now seven points. Jurgen Klopp’s sons are still winless in 2023.
