Bradley Cooper breaks his silence regarding criticism of the “Maestro”.

Next month will witness the premiere of the film “Maestro” directed by Bradley Cooper. The 48-year-old also plays the lead role in the film.

In armor: – Totally unnecessary

The film is a biographical drama about the relationship between the late composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre.

Although the premiere is still weeks away, the film has managed to receive harsh criticism and has been accused of anti-Semitism.

Cooper used a prosthetic in the role of Bernstein, so that his nose appeared larger.

“Hollywood casts Bradley Cooper — a non-Jew — to play Jewish legend Leonard Bernstein, and places a disgusting, exaggerated ‘Jewish nose’ on his face,” Stop Antisemitism wrote earlier this year.

The 48-year-old visited on Monday “Morning CBS”Here he finally chose to take the blade from his mouth.

– My nose is actually very similar to Lenny’s. The prosthesis looks like a small piece of silk. “Maybe we don’t need it,” I thought, but it’s about balance. Neither my mouth nor my chin looked like his, so it wouldn’t have worked without him.

Furthermore, Cooper says he didn’t necessarily give in to the criticism, but he made the film out of love and had nothing but good intentions. This summer, Bernstein’s children, Jimmy, 71, Nina, 61, and Alexander Bernstein, 68, chose to comment on the criticism as well.

In a statement shared on X, formerly Twitter, they confirmed that Cooper had included them throughout the filming process and that they were shocked that his work had been misinterpreted.

“In fact, Leonard Bernstein had a big, beautiful nose. Bradley chose to use makeup to highlight this, which is fine by us.”

Furthermore, Bernstein’s children described the reactions as “dishonest attempts to diminish the character of a successful person.”
