Chelsea, Aston Villa | The overtime drama is enormous:

Villa led 2-0 before half-time. Mark Cucurella then sent the ball first into his own net before Morgan Rogers brilliantly curled the ball into the corner from 16 metres.

In the second half, Noni Madueke pulled a goal back before Gallagher equalized with a beautiful goal. The captain received the ball outside the 16-meter area and took it with him without any pressure from the hosts. Then he decided to finish the match with his left foot, and the ball went into the far corner.

Chelsea thought they had all the points when Axel Disasi fired the ball home in stoppage time, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on the front foot. Chelsea players were angry at the decision.

Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino had little understanding of the cancellation.

– Pochettino is in disbelief on the sidelines, reports The Athletic's Simon Johnson of the drama.

Chasing the championship

Villa is fighting to play in the Champions League next season and is seven points behind Tottenham, who is in fifth place. However, Spurs have played three fewer games and could overtake Birmingham if they win them all.

Chelsea is having a bad season and is ranked ninth. Even Villa, separated by 19 points.

Cucurella was unlucky and scored an own goal when John McGinn's shot hit the Spaniard's foot and went into the net after just four minutes of play.

Nicholas Jackson put the ball into Chelsea's goal in the 17th minute, but the goal was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee due to offside.

Overtime drama

Rogers put the home team up 2-0 before halftime. The left winger received the ball from 16 meters out and set it up before slotting it into the nearest corner. Chelsea had been close to a draw for a while before that.

An hour into the game, Noni Madueke pulled back after Chelsea had the ball high up the field.

Then it was time for some Gallagher magic with ten minutes to go. In extra time, Cole Palmer had the chance to secure Chelsea's win, but he missed the target.
