Konate has probably put Mbappé dead ball once and for all

Kylian Mbappe looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. Finally, as many believe, after several years of speculation surrounding the star's future. It was said over and over that he was about to leave, but he almost always stayed. We have also read several times that Liverpool should be considered a potential club for the striker, without it seeming to have much roots in reality.

The Liverpool and Mbappé rumors have resurfaced this week, but it now appears that Ibrahima Konate has put the ball away once and for all. The centre-back did so in an interview with French channel Canal+ following Saturday's 4-1 win over Brentford.

– Do you really think he'll come here? I think we all know where he's going, he told the reporter with a big smile on his face.

The 24-year-old was of course aiming to join Real Madrid, the club most people expect Mbappe to play for next season.

I'm not entirely sure

The athlete He wrote on Saturday that Mbappe had informed Paris Saint-Germain that he would leave the club in the summer. The contract with the major French club expires on June 30, and he is already free to negotiate with clubs abroad.

According to the sports magazine, only one club has put an offer on the table, which is Real Madrid. This summer there was a €300m offer from Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal, but Mbappe was not interested in leaving European football.

It may seem strange that more clubs are not making offers for the 25-year-old, but as Jurgen Klopp pointed out on Friday, Liverpool are not the only ones who do not have the financial framework to take part in that match.

– Obviously I am not concerned with who will be included, but I would be surprised if all the major clubs made offers. Klopp said most top clubs would struggle to meet wage requirements and signing bonuses.

It is difficult to say how much Mbappé earns at PSG today, but it is likely to be around £1m or more per week. Mohamed Salah is Liverpool's highest-paid player, earning £350,000 per week.

At the moment, nothing has been confirmed between Real Madrid and Mbappe, but there don't seem to be any other realistic options at the moment.
