It became clear on Thursday that Axel Stefansson would not continue as Kenneth Gabrielsen's assistant at Storhamar.

Now the new assistant has signed.

He has helped win the Champions League three times.

With snakes.

Endre Berkrem Wendtland (31) was assistant coach to both Ole Gustav Gjekstad and Kenneth Gabrielsen at Vipers. Now he is ready for Storhammar.

The southpaw has an impressive CV as he is only 31 years old. Birkrem Vintland was Vipers assistant coach under Kenneth Gabrielsen in the 2017/18 season. He was then head coach at Oppsal from 2018 to 2020, before returning to Vipers again from 2020 to 2023. Then with Ole Gustav Gjekstad as head coach.

As mentioned, Berkrem helped Vintland win the Champions League three times with the Vipers. He also has four series championships, three NM titles and three playoff titles. For the past year, he has been Managing Director of IK Våg.

– I am proud and humbled that Endre chose to move from Kristiansand to help develop the team and the club. In addition, young talents under Wang Tubidret's patronage will have access to his expertise. We've been in dialogue with Endre about this for a long time. “We're bringing in a guy with raw work ability who is strong at a professional level in a lot of things,” says Storhamar coach Kenneth Gabrielsen.

– We were together to win the Vipers' first title in the 2017/18 season. Despite his young age, Endre has already managed to be a head coach at Elitserien, as well as an assistant coach to the winningest and best coach in Europe, Ole Gustav Gjekstad. This is the scoop that will really help in the development of club, team and individual players,” says Kenneth Gabrielsen.

Endre Birkrem Fintland will move to Hamar in the summer and is looking forward to working at Storhamar.

– I enjoyed my time well here at IK Våg, so it wasn't an easy decision to leave, but I couldn't say no to Storhammar. Endre Wentland says: I missed being at the top of handball, even though I was only away from it for one season.

-I'm very much looking forward to starting this project and getting to know everyone there better. Since I was in Vipers, I followed Storhamar since they were our closest rivals. I have great confidence in what they are doing there. And of course I know Kenneth well, having worked with him, so I know what I'm going to do.

Storhamar take on Fredrikstad at home on Saturday evening.
