Steinsvåg for six new years at ROM

Gjertrud Steinsvåg led ROM for four years. Now the Foundation’s Board of Directors has chosen to extend her term for a new six years. Under Steinsvåg’s leadership, the ROM has succeeded in creating “a unified meeting place for art, architecture, site development and public spaces in Norway”, which is the goal, according to Chairman Anders Rubing.

– It is usually news about the appointment of a new manager, but it is just news about a vision. We think it is at least interesting that the Board, after long discussions, believes it is right to grant the current leader a new term. This shows that we are satisfied with what Steinsvåg has done, and we feel that it is taking the organization to where we want it to be, says Anders Rubing, architect and Chairman of the Board of ROM, to Arkitektur.

Looking forward to a deep dive

Steinsvåg himself is happy and proud to be able to continue at ROM for the next six years. ROM describes a unique history and great potential to develop new sounds, forms and concrete visions for the future.

Interdisciplinary management is about creating encounters between practices and methods from different traditions, thus broadening perspectives and creating new, previously unknown, synergies. I believe this is an inexhaustible area of work, and I look forward to diving deeper into it with the strong ROM team, the Board of Directors, many independent and institutional collaborations and our audience,” Steinsvåg tells Arkitektur.
