Ten of Godust’s players are infected with Corona

Saturday evening reports Eurosport about a major corona outbreak in Strømsgodset and that the series opener against Lillestrøm on Monday could be in jeopardy.

Late Saturday evening, Magne General Manager Jordan Nilsen confirmed this information to TV2.

– I can confirm that we have a positive Covid test on 10 players in the team. Two new today at the latest. Moreover, I do not want to go into more detail because the situation is not clear at the moment, he writes in an SMS to TV2.

At 11pm on a Saturday night, it’s hard to predict how much this will affect the start of the series on Monday in Åråsen.

Prepare for battle

In Åråsen they already built the start of the series on Monday to be a soccer party. 8,000 tickets sold out soon.

As of today, the message to fans is that they are preparing for the match.

– We are not currently directly involved in the case. But I spoke to Godset and NFF a day ago. At the moment this is not a problem for us, writes sports director Simon Mesvin in an SMS to TV2.

He wrote that the club is getting ready to prepare for Monday’s game.

Doubts about the fight

However, TV 2 football expert Jesper Mathisen doubts the match will go ahead as planned on Monday.

– With so many players injured, I think there is little chance of the game going as planned, says Mathisen.

He’s excited about what the clubs and the NFL will transmit on Sunday – the day before the series starts.

It would be incredibly boring for all the players and fans who were looking forward to the Series opener, but when large parts of the stable are infected, everyone involved of course knows that the smartest thing is to hold off, Mattisen says.
