A fire at Norwich Horticulture – burned to the ground

(Forward): The police in Nordland write in the police register on Wednesday evening that a fire broke out in a nursery in Balangan in the municipality of Norvik.

110 Central informs Freemover that the nursery is 3,000 square meters in size and the building is not supposed to be occupied.

Firefighters were on standby at 22:33 and firefighting operations had begun, according to police records. Fire spreads fast.

– It still burns and it burns well. It's the whole guy. The fire developed very quickly. A nearby apartment building adjacent to the nursery was also on fire, operations manager Ivar Bo Nilsson told Netavisen at 11.40pm.

He says there is no air in the area and there is no risk of further spread.

Two cats may have died

A fire constable is said to have suffered burns to the face and is being examined by paramedics. People in buildings affected by the fire should have evacuated themselves before emergency services arrived.

– All the people have left, but two cats are missing and may have died as a result of the fire, Nilsen says.

Nilsen says police have opened an investigation and are interviewing people at the scene.

Bangs and bangs

Andreas Schindlow at 110 Central tells Freemover that he is still waiting for help from Norvik.

– It spreads very quickly within horticulture, but it remains to be seen how demanding it will be, says Skintlow.

A forward tipster said he was about two kilometers away from the scene of the fire and heard thunder and rumbling.

A fire department vehicle caught fire

Chief of Police Operations at the scene, Theodor Christiansen, tells Freemover that no third parties were injured, but there were reports that firefighters suffered smoke inhalation at the scene.

He also says that one of the fire brigade's own vehicles must have caught fire and been destroyed.

– The fire spread quickly, and the fire engine stopped very close, Ivor Bo Nilsson from the Nordland Police District tells NTB.

– Christianson says that we were notified of the fire during firefighting operations.

At 23:48, the police write in the police register that the nursery and the adjacent building are lost.

NTB writes that the nearby building will be a residential building.

At 01-05, the police write in X that the fire is still burning, but the fire service is now under control.

There should be no risk of spreading to multiple buildings.

Power shortage

There has also been a power outage due to the fire.

According to Noranet's overview, 153 customers were affected.

“A fire at Balangan resulted in the amputation,” writes Noranet.
