Court session in The Hague: – Palestinian Foreign Minister:

On Monday, the United Nations court is scheduled to hold an open hearing on the legal consequences of Israel’s policy and practices in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem.

Speaking in The Hague, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malik said genocide was taking place in Gaza.

– I appeal to the world not to forget the Palestinian people. The occupation must end.

– Israel challenges court decisions to prevent genocide without being punished.

Last Friday, the International Court of Justice rejected South Africa's request to intervene further to protect Palestinians in Gaza from Israeli attacks.

There are no new measures

Earlier last week, South Africa indicated that Israel was warning of a ground invasion in Rafah, where more than 1.1 million internally displaced Palestinians responded to Israel's call and took refuge there, according to NTB.

In the court's ruling issued on Friday, it was acknowledged that recent developments in the Gaza Strip would exacerbate “what is already a humanitarian nightmare.” But he believes there is no need for new measures by the International Court of Justice.

Last month, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to do everything in its power to prevent Israeli forces from committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

– Committed to his obligations

The court stressed that Israel must respect this order and that there is no need for new orders.

Friday's ruling stated that Israel is obligated to fully comply with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and the above-mentioned order, including ensuring the safety of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday last week, South Africa requested an urgent review into whether the declared Israeli attack against Rafa would constitute a violation of the previous order of the International Court of Justice. Israel asked the International Court of Justice to reject South Africa's petition.

Israel denies committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and claims that it is doing everything in its power to save the civilian population there.

According to Palestinian health authorities, at least 28,775 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel.
