Tesla assures sales staff, bizarrely, that the Model Y no It will be upgraded this year as we previously reported. It's weird, since the Model 3 just got a lot of new stuff at the end of last year, with a good overall score.
Tesla says: No upgrade this year
It's an internal Tesla memo obtained by Teslascope that is intended to be distributed to customers wondering if they should wait to buy the Y because they've heard rumors that the model is being upgraded:
“We have heard your feedback that some customers are waiting to place their Model Y order because they expect a similar update to the Model 3. It is important that we communicate transparently that there will be no update to the Model Y this year and that this is the best time for customers to start driving the world's best-selling car. In addition to the $7,500 federal tax credit for qualifying customers, we have offered a list of current incentives for current owners and new customers.
Teslascope believes the launch could come too late this year, possibly being pushed to the first and second quarter of 2025. It's also possible, as Electrek pointed out, that Tesla could upgrade the Model Y this year but doesn't. Qualify for what the company defines as a “refresh.”
