– It’s great that you ended up in that company, of course. It’s a pretty formidable list of names, as Nesbo himself told VG about his selection in the big selection.

It’s a “Rødstrupe” book from 2000, the third in the series about Harry Hole, which will be set in… Time magazine’s list of the 100 best crime books of all time.

The book was translated into English in 2006 and won a number of awards: in 2000, Nesbo received a booksellers’ award, and four years later Nittiman listeners called the book “Tidenes norske krim”.

The committee believes the book may be as much a “crime thriller” as it is an “epic war novel”.

In good company: Jo Nesbo ranks on the list alongside big names like Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Agatha Christie.

Nesbø says he doesn’t really know how important this award is to the book.

– But at the same time, I realize from the feedback that it is a notable list, so it might help give “Rødstrupe” a little longer life.
