– We have a maintenance window now during the autumn holidays, so we have the opportunity to do such work, says General Manager Trond Birkeland.
Meanwhile, the northern part of the second level is closed to parking. That means 325 fewer parking spaces this week. Birkeland still doesn’t think the places in Bygarasjen will be tight.
-On Monday, there were probably a few hundred free parking spaces. From experience, there will be more places available after the fall break.
If all goes according to plan, the new parking lots will open Sunday evening.
– There will be better designated locations when cars return after the holiday.
The Bygarasjen upgrade began in 2022. This summer, the roof extension was completed. The work is being carried out because the spaces are too tight for modern cars.
During the expansion process, changes will arise that customers will have to deal with.
– Work will probably continue over Christmas, but then we only have three working days. We have a plan to take the remaining work over several vacation periods.
Upgrading facilities is also one of the reasons for a controversial increase in downtown parking prices this summer.

- Environmental discount for electric cars: 25% of regular prices. Monthly limit for electric car: NOK 1,500.- per month.
