Russian general: – He was fired

Russian General Ivan Popov announced that he had been dismissed from his post as commander of Russian forces in the Russian-occupied regions of southern Ukraine.

According to him, this must have happened after he accused the Russian Defense Minister of betraying the Russian forces as a result of the lack of military support.

The general is said to be one of the most senior officers involved in the war in Ukraine, and his troops have recently been involved in heavy fighting in the Zaporizhia region.

– A Russian captain was killed

according to CNN Popov’s claims appear in an audio message sent on Telegram by a member of Russia’s parliament, Andrei Gorolev.

He himself is a former deputy commander of the Southern Military District of Russia.

In the audio message, Popov says, he supposedly expressed concerns about the lack of anti-fire batteries and artillery reconnaissance stations, as well as the “mass death and injury of our brothers due to enemy artillery,” CNN writes.

– I also addressed a number of other problems and expressed it directly and very harshly at the highest level, he says according to CNN.

For CNN, experts describe the firing of a high-ranking general as “very special” when it occurs after an open disagreement with the defense secretary.
