Joseph Mayo takes a lot of credit for Viktor Hovland's exceptional development around the green. Now the Norwegian has chosen to part ways with the successful American coach.
Nettavisen has previously written about Mayo, who completely changed Viktor Hovland's playing style after they started working together almost a year ago.
-I've had a lot of smart people around me and gotten a lot of help, but I've never heard golf or certain parts of the game explained the way he did. “We work very well together, and I feel like we speak the same language,” Hovland told Netavisen last September.

Now the collaboration between the two has ended, golf reporter Todd Lewis reports.
-Hovland is no longer working with swing coach Joe Mayo. Hovland would not go into details about the hack, Lewis previously wrote on X Twitter.
Discovery is also reporting on the news, and it has reportedly been confirmed by Hovland's co-host, Shay Knight.
– This is very surprising considering the past year and all the positive changes that Mayo has contributed to, says Eurosport golf expert Marius Thorpe on his own channel.
Mayo helped Hovland turn his close game for the better in a very short time. The 26-year-old has gone from being among the weakest on the PGA Tour around the green, to developing into one of the best in his class. In total, 91 positions advanced in Shots Earned: Around the Green from 2022 to 2023.
