The Dutch Premier League match was stopped, and the player had to be resuscitated
The match between Alkmaar and Nijmegen in the Dutch first division was halted after the guest team’s striker Bas Dost fell, leaving him apparently lifeless.
This incident occurred in extra time in the match in which the visitors were leading 2-1. Dost, who scored the first goal of the match, fell and lay down. Players from both teams stood around him with their arms crossed while he received medical treatment.
After a few agonizing minutes, news came that Dost was conscious. He was carried on a stretcher and raised his hand to the crowd. Supporters of both teams chanted his name.
– The bass disappeared for a period of time, but they revived it. Nijmegen general manager Wilko van Schaik said the paramedics from both teams did a very good job and deserve praise for how quickly they intervened.
Dost’s father was present at the stadium and Van Schaik informed him of the matter.
The rest of the family was notified. Fortunately, there are now positive messages that can be conveyed. Bass conscious and sounds better.
There were five minutes remaining in extra time when the horrific incident occurred. The Nijmegen players said they did not want to continue playing and had the support of the home team. Therefore, the match was not resumed.
– It was very quiet in the dressing room, but the fist raised in the air said a lot, Van Schaik said.
Lars Olden Larsen is a fellow member of the Dost Club. He played from the start but was substituted in the 63rd minute. David Møller Wolfe played the entire match for AZ. (NTB)
