Accident, Kongsberg |  Hit by a train

This was reported by South East Police. It is reported that the accident took place at 23.11.

– Emergency services have received reports that a person has been hit by a train, south of Kongsberg railway station. Police are at the scene and can confirm one person was hit by the train, says operations manager Liz Bjornsund.

The police said that the person died at 00.40 hrs.

Björnsund says the man hit by the train has unfortunately been confirmed dead.

Operations manager Björnsund tells Netavisen that the accident happened just south of Kongsberg station.

– Police are working at the scene. As yet nothing can be said about the course of events. “That's what we're trying to map,” he says.

She had no other information.

It is reported that the next of kin have been notified at 02.35.

– The deceased is a 50-year-old resident of the area. There are no reports of anything criminal, Bjørnsund says.

BaneNor reports at 23.25 that Sørlandsbanen is closed at Kongsberg station.

They write on their website that the incident affects the sections Oslo S – Stavanger S, Sørlandspanen. On the line Kongsberg – Eidsvoll, Gardermo. A new update is expected at 02:00.

At 02.27 the pitch is declared open.

– Kongsberg station is open to traffic following an earlier incident on the line. Traffic is running as usual, he said.
