Brundtland and Mogedal hailed women as pioneers in women's health

The University of Oslo (UiO), NORAD and Women in Global Health Norway invited Sigrun Megedal and Gro Harlem Brundtland as guests of honor to the event at Tomas Bibliotheca. Both are hailed as pioneering women in an otherwise male-dominated field.

The Crown Princess extended her warmest wishes to both, but gave special emphasis to Mogedal, who she had closely collaborated with in the work against HIV and AIDS.

– I'll be with you on the narrow back streets – or the UN. Rarely have I been as proud to be Norwegian as I was on a trip to HQ.

– We were like a dream team, a kind of Thelma and Louise. “I think the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sometimes finds it a bit difficult to track us,” Mette-Marit said, drawing laughter from the audience.

From NATO's podium, Jens Stoltenberg took part in the video, and he shared memories of his long political career with Crowe – and when he became an international health summit. He pointed out that Gro Harlem Brundtland and Bill Gates together raised billions of kroner from Norway for women's health.

– Stoltenberg concluded that few people in Norway and the world care more for women's rights than you.
