In comparison, the Chinese auto and battery maker sold 69,544 electric cars in June 2022. This means that BYD sold 84.3% more electric cars in June this year than in the same month last year.

If we look at the number of electric vehicles sold from January to June this year, we find another impressive number: 616,810 electric vehicles were sold, almost double the corresponding half of last year, when BYD sold 323,519 electric vehicles. Here we are talking about a whopping 90.66 percent growth.

Car sales: winners and losers in 2023

– Meets customer needs

BYD still sells many plug-in hybrid cars. If we combine the number of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in June 2023, a total of 253,046 electric vehicles were sold last month.

This represents an increase of 88.2% compared to the same period last year. This is also a new auto manufacturer sales record for the number of electric vehicles sold in one month.

Of the total sales in June, the number of passenger cars reached 251,685, and passenger car sales grew by 95.5% compared to the same period in 2022.

These sales figures are the result of BYD’s continuous work with innovation and dedication to delivering first-class electric vehicles that meet customer needs, says Sales Director Simen Wøien Christensen at BYD Norway in a press release.

Tesla in droves

Incidentally, Byd He positioned itself in a price range in the middle of two of Norway’s most popular sedans; Tesla Model 3 and Model S.

When we started with Tesla, they delivered 466,140 cars in the second quarter of the year. It’s a new record and therefore Tesla’s strongest quarter to date.

Deliveries were up 10 percent from the first quarter and 83 percent from the corresponding quarter last year. It should be noted that the second quarter of 2022 was the only quarter of the last 14 in which Tesla did not increase its sales from the previous quarter. Read more here!
