Dominic is talented as Erling Haaland

Dominic is talented as Erling Haaland

It may seem hours, rather than days, before Dominic Szoboszlay was announced as Liverpool’s newest signing.

The 22-year-old arrived on Saturday afternoon in Merseyside, and in the evening there were many indications that the medical had concluded.

Many may wonder what kind of player and person this Hungarian is. Many of his former coaches can tell a lot about that.

Jesse Marsh, who was sacked by Leeds last season, is one of those given the honor of coaching the talented midfielder. He’s said this before about the player.

– If we talk about talent, then there are not many who are better than him in this position. Some are strong, others are tactically smart, and many can run and defend themselves. Dominic is special because he is skilled at everything. He is as talented as Erling Haaland, The American said, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Marsh was the coach of the pair when both players were at RB Salzburg.

Work ethic and talent

Earlier in the week, Gerhard Strober was a guest Redmen TV podcast. The 46-year-old Austrian trained Szoboszlai first at Liefering, and then at RB Salzburg. Among others, he helped develop players such as Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino at the club.

– There were many talents, but what I can say is that Dominic Zuboszlai has always been the player who surprised us the most. Giving him clear instructions was rarely helpful. Strober says he needs the freedom and space to do what he does best.

The non-playing club coach goes on to say he saw great potential early on. On the podcast, he tells an interesting story.

– I will never forget the days when he was off the field when we had the day off. Practice anyway. I was in my office, and I often looked at him. He usually trained corner kicks and free kicks.

The 22-year-old later became known as a very skilled player in set situations. At the end of last season, he even started taking RB Leipzig’s penalty kicks.

He’s definitely a great talent, but he also has lofty ambitions, and then there are two things that need to be in place. Very high work ethic and uncanny talent. Strober says he has both.

Szoboszlai has yet to be officially confirmed as a Liverpool player, but an announcement is getting closer. On Saturday evening, he is supposed to have started with a medical examination.
