Harsh criticism of Rosenborg

TRONDHEIM (Dagbladet): Unlike the team’s women’s team, which is fighting atop Toppserien, Rosenborg’s men’s team in Eliteserien has fared much worse this season.

The entire team is down in 11th place after 12 league rounds, just four points clear of relegation-qualifier Sandefjord, who have played two games fewer.

On Tuesday’s episode of the Rotsekk podcast, which also appears on NidarosFormer RBK legend Jan Ivar Jacobsen – better known as ‘Mini’ – comes up with barbs for the club.

In the podcast, the “Mini” interacts with, among other things, some player purchases made by Rosenborg, such as Rasmus Wiedesheim-Paul, who was brought in from Superettan club Halmstads.

At the same time, he points out that after the appointment of Mikael Dursen as sporting director, several people were brought in from Dorsen’s former employer, the Nordic Sky agent.

Since Dursen was appointed as the new sporting director in December 2019, a number of players associated with Nordic Sky agent company have either been brought to Rosenborg, or given a new contract with the club.

Some of these are: Holmar Orn Ijolfsson, Carlo Hulse, Oskar Agha, Paul André Helland, Erlind Dal Rytan, Christopher Zakariasen, Adam Anderson, Emil Konradsen Seyud, Jonathan Augustinsson, Sander Tangvik and Vibjon Hoff.

– No RBK for players!

The “Mini” also reacts to the players’ numerous purchases Rosenborg has made recently.

– If we take the people we remember, those who arrived recently, you can say they are under-21 players and we hope they are. But none of them are Rosenborg players, says the RBK legend.

So far this year alone, seven players have been brought to Rosenborg. In the same period, Stefano Vecchia, Kasper Tengstedt and Vibjorn Hof left the club.

In the podcast, Mini also said he spoke at the weekend to someone who recently spoke to another manager at Eliteserien, and was reacting to RBK’s purchase this winter of Agon Sadiku (20) from Finnish club Honka.

– He said: Did Rosenborg buy Ogon? That’s the kind of player we’d buy, Rosenborg wouldn’t buy Agon,” says Mini, before continuing:

– They have bought a lot of players who are not at the level we believe in and we hope and believe that Rosenborg should be at the level.

Four forwards at RBK this year (Aga, Nilsson, Sadiko and Thorvaldsson) have scored a total of three goals in Eliteserien this season.

With 509 minutes played, Nilsson has played the most this season, while Thorvaldsson and Agha have each played around 370 minutes. Sadiku has yet to play more than 200 minutes this season.

The longtime TV 2 expert points out that Trønder, who has just changed coaches, not only made mistakes in the transfer market, and points to the purchase and subsequent sale of Tengstedt.

He still thinks the number of player purchases should have been reduced to two or three players.
