Of the 450 beers from 53 breweries that participated in the competition, a panel of over fifty judges rated the beers from Takatalo and Tombori Brewery to be the best in the country.

Good with gouda and soup
The judging panel described the winning beer as follows:
-The winning beer was frothy and attractive in appearance. The aroma had delicate toast and complex coffee flavors. Winning beers are full of flavour, yet easy to drink. It is the perfect companion to venison, soups and Gouda cheese.
The competition is organized by the Finnish Brewers Association with members including the Finnish Brewers Association and the Small Brewers Association.
A total of 15 categories are covered, with the largest groups of participants in the light beer, IPA and sour beer categories. The competition evolves every year to meet the needs of both brewers and consumers. In recent years, there has been a separate category for non-alcoholic beers and low-alcohol beers, and this year the light beer category has been split into two. The Best Gluten-Free Beer award is now being awarded for the third time.
