– We were contacted by a witness who saw a person break a window and set fire inside a restaurant, Operations Manager in the Oslo Police District Vidar Peterson tells NRK.

There were no people in the restaurant when the fire broke out. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of an old apartment building with several apartments.

– Emergency services arrived quickly at the scene, and all occupants of the apartment above were evacuated, Peterson says.

Shortly afterwards, firefighters put out the blaze and allowed residents to return to their homes.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Closed: The restaurant was closed when the fire broke out. He contacted police with a witness who noticed a window had been broken shortly before the fire spread.

Suspected of arson

Police suspect someone may have deliberately set the fire.

– We have already done some research on that place. The fire department said it smelled of gasoline at the scene of the fire, so we have a strong suspicion it could have happened, Peterson said.

He also says that the police are searching for the persons who allegedly fled the place with various patrols.

The fire was reported to the emergency service at 02.05. Firefighters rushed to the scene with seven cars.
