– Inquiries about admission will continue as usual, but the referring doctor will consult with the doctor on duty at the hospital in Västerelen and consider further treatment options, the hospital company writes in a press release.
This means that new patients may be transferred to other hospitals and treated there.
Patients are first referred to Nordlandskehuset Lofoten, says Helene Kathryn Langfors Asli, who is a communications consultant at Nordlandskehuset.
Elisabeth Bergland Jensen, head of department at the medical clinic at the hospital in Stockholm, insists that all patients receive proper healthcare.

Nordlandskehuset says time-crunched patients won’t suffer. They can come to the hospital in Stokemarknes casually, otherwise it is possible.
– The press release states that these measures will already be implemented from Tuesday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, they will be re-evaluated.
Nordlandssykehuset emphasizes that outpatient hospital hours are currently operating as normal.
