After 20 years presenting ITV’s popular morning programme, ‘This Morning’, many were surprised when it became known that Schofield was leaving in May.

The Guardian reported that it was due to an ongoing feud with co-presenter Holly Willoughby.

Later it became known that Scofield quit because of his affair with a much younger colleague, which Scofield called “unwise, but not illegal”.

For the first time since word broke, Scofield is now speaking in an interview with The Sun tabloid.

“We became friends,” he says of a classmate with whom he had an affair.

Then one day something else happened. And this is the moment I look back.

– There is absolutely no doubt that I did something bad. unprofessional. I know. There is no excuse for that.

He also says he sent a message to announcer Willoughby in which he wrote, “Don’t reply, you’re probably not allowed to.” But I am very, very sorry.”

He says what he regrets most is getting into a relationship at work.

Scofield also apologizes to his younger classmate often.

– I should know better.
