Hamar Heidi Stangoerdt (28) and Patrick Gjertsen Hernæs (27) appear as the newlyweds in this year’s “Sommerhytta” season.
– We live well with the height difference
On the private front, there have been major changes since the popular program was recorded a year ago.
– We are no longer a couple. But they say to Se og Hør, we’re still good friends.
– simpler
The breakup is not tragic. We kind of fell apart. Things feel easier now, because we’re better friends than lovers in recent months, says Patrick, who originally came from Skedsmokorset.
– He was completely crazy
Heidi grew up in Raufoss, and although she now lives across from Mjøsa, she has retained her childhood accent.
– I speak softly when I’m with Patrick, and generally when I’m with family.
the decision
The tone between the former spouses is still good. They sit together as they tell their story together, even though the relationship they had with each other is a thing of the past.
– I think Heidi is a good person. I hope you think the same, says Patrick.
The former spouses say it was important for them to take time apart.
That happened gradually over the fall of 2022.
They did this with a prize
– He wasn’t just my friend. He was also my best friend. We envisioned a future that no longer exists. We have accepted that we are not right for each other. Heidi says the separation is final.
– We finished it, hoping that we would both get better.
A memory for life
Both of them talk about everything that happened during the time of the recording, not the least of which is the good friendship they have with the other couples on the reality series, as an experience of a lifetime.
Crystal clear entry into the house
– We set off on such an unknown journey that it was difficult to say in words what we expected. I really struggled the first few weeks. Everything was so new, says Heidi, whether it was the place or the people.
speculation
Many TV 2 viewers wonder if something happened in Myllatun that led to the end of love.
The two main characters tell how weeks of stress and hard work have brought them to know new sides of each other, for better or for worse.
But none of them would highlight or blame the existence of any individual episodes that led to the breakup.
At first, the couple didn’t have high expectations of each other, or had no ideas about what the other could contribute when they signed up as participants.
– My experience in carpentry was limited to a bird box. Knowledge of tools and materials was minimal, says Heidi, who had ideas about the interior in the first place.
They learned a lot in a short time. Hunger was suppressed by the longing to win new golden hammers. Something that in a short time caused a huge loss in body weight.
– Each of us lost six kilograms during these weeks.
This happens with cabins
I got help
Patrick describes himself as a fellow who essentially chooses what is safe and good, while at the same time not being very fond of challenging himself socially.
– After four weeks, my head felt like a yo-yo. It was not me. Patrick says I was suddenly impatient and grumpy, and really wished I was anywhere other than Myllatun.
The psychiatrist helped him figure out the problem. The challenges he struggled with were resolved.
Psychological help was also important for Heidi, who felt she needed someone to share her thoughts with after the recording time was up.
The cabin dream has become bloody dangerous
– I’ve called, had physical meetings, and talked a lot about my feelings. Heidi says it was a good experience, both during and after the breakup.
learning curve
She lives alone again in the apartment that was the couple’s home when filming of “Sommerhytta” began, while Patrick has moved out and lives on his own.
As TV 2 viewers have noted, he has had no experience with renovations and, if that is possible, the least interest in interiors.
The learning curve was steep. The new apartment became an interior design project, as I spent a lot of time finding the right furniture and colors to match. I also used my carpentry skills when I helped a friend build a kitchen bench, the 27-year-old says proudly.
He’s convinced TV series in-house expert Aina Sollie Steen (49) would also approve of the final result.
Everything has an end
Young fans
Both Patrick and Heidi work at the nursery, and the feedback they’re getting from their young fans is indisputably positive.
– I am humbled when I understand how much children enjoy what they see on TV. Patrick says it means a lot to me that both the kids and the parents are spending time watching “Sommerhytta” together.
Heidi nods.
– They are so excited and so cute when they say they saw me on TV, she says with a smile.
