Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that he had spoken with the US ambassador to Russia.
According to Reuters, Lavrov says the US ambassador “gave signs” that the US was not involved in the Wagner uprising.
The statement was delivered to the Russian state news agency TASS.
Moreover, according to Lavrov, the American ambassador said that Helga’s riots are an internal matter in Russia.
Breaking the silence after the rebellion
However, Russian intelligence is investigating whether Western spies had a role in the uprising, Lavrov says, according to TASS.
Lavrov further commented on the claims of, among others, Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky, who claimed on Thursday that intelligence indicated Russia was planning an attack on the Zaporizhia power plant.
According to Tass, Lavrov refers to the allegations as “nonsense”.
