Russia accuses Ukraine of bombing hospitals

On Saturday, Russian authorities accused the Ukrainian military of carrying out an attack on a hospital that reportedly killed 14 people in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine.

The information has not been confirmed by other sources.

The Russian Defense Ministry says the attack took place on Saturday morning in the town of Novoydar.

– The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement carried by Agence France-Presse on Saturday afternoon that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked with full premeditation the building of a local hospital with missiles from the US-made HIMARS system.

It also indicated that 14 people were killed and 24 wounded, including “patients and medical staff.”

The Russian state news agency TASS published videos and photos showing the result of the bombing.

VG verified that the photos are from the hospital area in Novidar. It is one of the buildings that suffered major damage.

Novidar is just over 50 kilometers from the front, just east of the larger city of Sevgerodonetsk.

It was not possible to confirm the validity of the information about the dead and wounded from other sources.

The Ukrainian authorities did not comment on the accusations on Saturday afternoon.

The governor of Donetsk, just over 100 kilometers southwest of Novidar, said that three civilians were killed on Saturday in a Russian attack on a residential area in the town of Kostjantinivka in eastern Ukraine.

Another 14 were injured in Saturday’s attack, which also caused material damage to four apartments and a hotel, said Donetsk region governor Pavlo Kirilenko.

– Rescue crews and police officers are working at the scene of the tragedy to help people and comprehensively document another crime committed by the Russian occupiers of our country, Kirilenko wrote on Telegram.

Earlier on Saturday, Kirilenko said at least four people had been killed in the Donetsk region in the past 24 hours.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that the situation on the front remains “extremely acute”, especially in Donetsk where Russia is stepping up its offensive.
