Arrests after Halton fire: 21 evacuated

21 people have been evacuated after a fire broke out in Halton. A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Police in Øst write that a total of 21 people have been evacuated after a fire at an address in Halten. The locals informed the police about this.

– Operations manager Adele Westorp tells VG that there is no electricity after the apartment’s input cable melted, and 21 people have been evacuated.

No one was found in the three-storey and one-floor apartment, and the fire service reported to the scene at 04.04.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson. He does not live in the block himself.

– The person was arrested based on the observations of the witnesses. The man was found upstairs, where smoke was coming from shortly after. Westorp says he was taken into custody, held and will be questioned tomorrow.

Two people were sent to the emergency room for smoke inhalation.

– They are not seriously injured.

19 people have been evacuated to the hostel.

Police have not received reports of any other fires in the area overnight into Thursday.
